IBT Flow Cytometry Analysis and Cell Sorting

Overview of Services

The mission of the Core is to provide state-of-the-art instrumentation, exceptional specialized expertise and training in flow cytometry. Services include fluorescence-activated cell sorting (FACS), flow cytometry analysis, consultation, data analysis and training.

Major Equipment
BD FACSAria Fusion - A fully integrated advanced cell sorter and analyzer with a biosafety solution. 4 solid state lasers: 488-nm blue laser (50mW), 640-nm red laser (100mW), 405-nm violet laser (85mW), and a 561-nm yellow-green laser (50mW). Detects 15 simultaneous fluorescent colors.

BD LSR II - Special Order Laser Upgrade includes the installation of a 561-150mw laser system,
637-150nm laser w/mount, Octagon with 3 premounted detectors and 3 high performance filters/mirrors set
(3 Bandpass & 3 Dichroic Mirrors) for 561nm laser system on BD LSR II.

BioRad ZE5 Cell analyzer - The ZE5 analyzer is equipped is 5 lasers (UV 305, violet 405, blue 488, Y/G 561, and red 640 nm excitation wavelengths) for assays requiring high multi-parameter analysis. The instrument also has a small particle detector using FSC from the 405 laser to detect exosomes and extracellular vesicles (EVs).  The ZE5 includes an integrated universal sample loader that takes up cells in suspension from tubes for conventional flow cytometry applications, or 96- or 384-well plates for HT applications. The combination of five lasers and 30 detectors (up to 27 colors) and the sample loader enables the ZE5 Cell Analyzer to meet throughput needs in a wide array of applications and is the fastest flow cytometer with 30-parameter sampling capabilities on the market.

Cytek Aurora flow cytometry spectral analyzer  - this flow cytometer incorporates innovative technologies capable of measuring the entire emission spectra of fluorescent dyes excited by multiple lasers installed on the instrument. The Aurora system is equipped with three lasers (405, 488, and 640 nm excitation wavelengths), three scattering channels, and can detect up to 38 fluorescence channels. We also purchased an automated sample loader for sample plate analysis (from 6 to 96 well plates) and rack for 5mL tubes.
